The Essence

the genesis

The practice of bonded labor was prevalent in 20th century India. Under this system when an elder of a family took a loan and failed to repay the same, his or her descendants or dependents had to work for the creditor with interest deducted from their wages until the loan was repaid. Several generations worked in degradable conditions and extreme poverty under this system. Hence, Bonded Labor System (Abolition) Act
